o2 sensor in manifold, how do you get the drivers side manifold off?

I have two questions

1.Would it hurt anything if i didnt put the sensor that is in the drivers side manifold back in? My headers dont have a spot to put it so i will have to drill a hole.

2. Also, how do you remove the drivers side manifold? I'm having trouble taking the first bolt off. I have removed the AC, and was wondering if you need to remove the power steering bracket also. Thanks for any help

The O2 sensor is a critical input the the fuel control system. Without it, your system would go into limp-home mode, default rich; wasting gas, fouling plugs, running horrible, etc., etc., etc.

But, other than that, wouldn't hurt anything...

To get the manifold off just like, un-bolt it
You may have to lift the engine up slightly to get it out, I put headers on my friends 88 with the motor in the car, no lifting required. Shouldn't be too hard, just unbolt it from the head, undo the AIR(if so equipped) and unbolt the flange from underneath(may be hard since these have a habit of rusting, just use wd-40, and maybe heat it up) I ended up cutting it with a sawzall. Hope this helps. Peace.
