Deep, loud grumble for my 350. Catback Flowmasters?
Would the Catback Flowmaster system be a good call for my 350 to get a nice deep grumble? I found this system for $320. Any other recommendations on different style or brand?
well IMO for that price I would definately consider the Banks kit.It will last alot longer, sounds much better and is about the same price!..the best sounding exhaust I have heard thus far for the 3rd gen !..I have a sound clip if you are interested, shoot me an e-mail and I will forward it to you.

I would go with anything but flowmaster. Every Flowmaster system I have heard just has to much rasp to it. They sound great at idle but add some go pedal and it sounds junky. To each his own though.

If you keep your cat on, the exhaust should not be raspy. My system has a nice deep bass to it, i'm happy with the system.

I like the sound of my 3" Ravin system. Sound clips are on my webpage, link in the sig.

How loud would you rate your Ravin compared to a flomaster 80 or a magnaflow muffler both inside and out of the car? Im looking for something a little louder and deeper than my magnaflow. I like the sound of your Ravin just need to know how loud it is. Thanks!

i have a flowmaster 80 series muffler on my 305, it sounds so much better than stock does. its got a nice little rumble to it idling, and it sounds sweet taking off. All my friends approve too!
(goes to show it takes very little to impress ppl around here)
IMO much better than stock, but i can't compare it to other systems I haven't heard in person...
Hope this helps a lil.

I've never heard those mufflers on a 350, so I really don't know. I've heard other Flowmasters before, and I didn't like them because they sound too hollow. I like the "grumble" that Ravin has.

The thing i don't like about people asking "which sounds best" is that everyone has a different opinion on what sounds good to them. I personally love the hollow raspy sound of the flows. My friend had 2 40 series on his northstar caddie with a gutted cat and it sounded hella (first time i've used that word) good. Had some drone to it at some certain RPM's, but i think that would probably come from any loud exhaust. Another friend has a flow 80 series 3"in/dual 3"out on his 95 LT1 z28 with no cat and i must say is one of the best exhausts i've heard. Yet another friend has dynomax crossflow on his '94 LT1 and it doesn't sound bad, but it really isn't all that loud until you really start to lay on it. And the thing about sound clips is that i can never get a good comparison because everyone records them in a different way and they usually sound so much different than in person. I think I'm going to go with the 80 series (even though it's a crossflow and doesn't flow as free as the 40) because i need to have the dual tips. IMO a single tip looks too boring (unless you just don't have any, and tuck em up outta sight). Just my .02!!!!

Yeah thats true Need4Speed. Everyone has a different sound they are looking for. And sound clips never compare to hearing it in person. Unless you get a chance to hear them all in person, you pretty much gotta listen to clips, go buy one and hope it sounds the way you want it to.

As long as its a v8, it can never sound that bad right?
I have a flowmaster crossover 80 series behind my 355 (3" in dual 3" out). The muffler was one of the most pleasurable additions to my car. It has a great idle rumble and at part throttle it sounds mean without being overpowering. At full throttle it's a bit much for my neighbours but still pleasent.
My only complaint is the sound it makes after you let off throttle at higher speeds, it sounds like a huge farting sound. Wish somone knew how to get rid of that....
