What exactly does everyone on here mean by cutout? A gutted cat?

a cutout is an exhaust cut-out. looks like so.

you weld it in before your cat, or before your mufflers, and the exhaust gasses will take the path of least resistance. and exit out the cut-out

a gutted cat is a catalytic convertor that someone has "gutted" out the inside of.

that way your car still looks emissions legal from the outside, but the cat will "supposedly" flow better.

cut-outs are great, and i wouldn't reccomened gutting your cat, just get a hi-flow cat, or a cut-out before your cat

84customZ28, your car is really nice, i recently test drove a 92 Z-28 w/350 TPI. It is the first one that i have drove and that thing would absolutly fly. What kind of times have you ran at the track? Just curious.

Thanks alot man....haha! ya know....when people first look at my car, they wonder how fast it is at the track..lol...and I've never taken it there before. I know I have some pretty descent mods....but..I don't race at all. Just scared of something major happening where I wouldn't be able to fix it. I'm really wanting to install a B&M Mega Shifter....but..I'm not sure that I can install it...I'm not much of a mechanic. Thanks for the compliments man, have a good one
