emissions removed- smog pump noises
ok i removed all of my emissions equipment about a year ago, the only thing i didn't remove is the pump that runs on the serpentine belt. right behind that pump there is that metal tube that runs out of it and into that black box- i just took that tube off so its just open behind the pump now. everyone still with me now? hope so.
well just a week or to ago the pump has started makin noises, like chuggin almost or like its air pumpin kinda but it makes an annoying loud noise.. psh psh... hard to explain a noise but its from the smog pump... its like a bad sound or air tryin to be pumped, and it needs to be fixed some way...
how can i go about doing this, anyone? take pump off belt routing somehow? replace it? take pump apart take out parts and just have the pulley there? lube it up?
not sure on what i need to do all input is helpful and thank you ahead of time for the help.

well the smog pump does blow air out that is what it does.
its probable going down hill, i would just pull it out and make gut the insides so its just kinda acts like a pulley on bearings (i.e a delete pulley)
if that sounds like too much work just take it off and than get a different belt.

The pump is starting to sieze. It happed to my car and to my buddies car. You want to get it off. After I got mine off it would barely turn and made horrid grinding and poping noises. Don't bother gutting it. It would take way to much effort. it is a one piece deal and you would have to butcher it. If you do not have pulleys you want a 96.8" belt from any auto parts store. The tech srticle gives you a dayco part number to use. Take that number to advance and they will have it. Auto zone carries a different belt for that dayco number and it is wrong.
