Exhaust tips change sound or note?

Exhaust tips change sound or note?
im thinking of changing the tips on my ride but do they change the sound of the exhaust? and do the restrict in any way the flow?
Im thinking of getting the 4th gen tips since there is really nothing on the back of the car that is round so the rectangular tips would look better...you think?
heres a picture of the tips now...this is an old picture but the car still looks the same.

I wouldn't change those tips, they look great! So do your rims.
