Some AIRy stuff

For those of you that have pulled the EGR off of a 3rdGen-

I believe I read this before, but I couldn't find a search thing on it. I took one of my stock exhaust manifolds down to Home Depot today and tried to find some sort of plug, hex bolt or whatever, to replace the places where the pipes connected to the manifold. I messed around with stuff for a while, and the closest I found was a 1/2x1 bolt. It doesn't fit all the way into the threads- I'm guessing it needs x1/2? Anyway, they didn't have any metric size things there so I'm wondering if I had the wrong size diameter or something. What size could I use for them, or did you find a way to cover where the piping connected to the hose? Or is there a better way to go about this?
Also, I can't find where the system connects to the intake manifold like everyone's been talking about. Can someone explain it for me? I'll go look at it again later. I haven't really inspected it or anything.

I used a standard 1/4 NPT pipe plug. I found some short ones with recessed allen heads, and they look good.

It doesn't. Check out this thread where I laid out the entire AIR system off of my car.

One more thing, I don't think has been addressed blatantly yet, what do I do with that (O2?) pipe that goes down to the cat?

Cut it at the cat, weld it shut, or have a friend/shop do it
