Did you know...?

That it's "illegal" to put an O2 bung on the passenger side? I wasn't aware of that, till now.

Edit: illegal in that it violates the CARB-EO.

how would anyone know where it is unless they jack up the car and look under it. IIRC my V6 had one on the pass side.

Well, I've not heard of anyone being caught for it, but in CA they check under the car with a big inspection mirror. For shorty headers, the collector is lower and easier to spot. They seem to go from front to back, and not just looking for cats at the inspections I've gone through. I guess I'll just plug mine and hope for the best.

It's only legal to have it on the driver's side for a V8. I don't know about the V6.

I was informed of this by Hedman, when they told me I've violated their EO and their warranties. Apparently it's illegal to move the bung as well. Since my driver's bung was put on the wrong side by them, they will correct it because it's illegal for me to move it from one end to the other. I'm not totally sure of that, it's kind of reading between the lines on my end.

The problem is that lawmakers make laws about things they have no clue about.

Since they're looking with a mirror, the right side will look like the left, and vice versa.

Okay, maybe that doesn't fly...

I'd be surprised if an inspektor actually failed you for that. But, Hedman has their reputation to maintain.

ok here in Texas we pretty much ahve the same sort of emission stuff that you have to pass, at least in my car b4 I ever put the headers on it inspection peeps said i couldn't run headers.so after i showed them all the paperwork that they needed to see for the headers they left me alone....moral of the story is that you can run an O2 senors on the driv side)esp since thats where the fact put them) so anybody that tells you diff , tell them to lick them!!

hehe, I have bungs on both sides. The driver's side is in the wrong location (forward facing). I was going to chop it off and put it on the rear facing direction till I called Hedman and they said that is illegal to do, as is putting a bung on the pass side. It voids their CARB-EO certification or something to that effect.
