hooker lt question

I am installing a set of lt's on an 84 Z28 with a 78 350 block. The bottom portion of the #8 tube lays against the forward portion of the passenger LCA attach point. I have tried poly engine mounts, oem and a mixture of both with no luck. It would be major reconstruction of the LCA to solve the problem. If I put a 1\16" washer between the top of the header mounting flange and the block and snug it up, everything works well. It misses the LCA and gives room by the lakewood scattershield and block saver plate. The question is has anyone tweeked the flange, modified it or slightly bent the tubes. I am concerned about distorting the flange and possibly causing sealing problems. Any ideas?
