Exhaust Cut-Out screws up your chip?
Today or tomorrow im gonna get my car back, and im having the sub-frames and the exhaust cut-out put on. The guy told me that its gonna really screw up my chip because when the exhaust cut-out is open there aint gonna be any backpressure so its gonna throw off all the sensors off.
Also the exhaust cut-out is gonna have to face inward towards the transmission rather that outward away from the car, due to some clearance issues where i want it placed. (Right after the headers, and before the cat). Doubt this is any problems right?
Well i guess obvious chip tuning would probably fix this, but i dont understand how you can tune the chip with both OPEN and CLOSED exhaust cut-out, without hurting one of the two.
Anyways despite these warnings, i still went ahead and did it, and worse case is i keep the exhaust cut-out CLOSED for now, till i find a way to burn the chip.
You guys with exhaust cut-outs, you do any chip tuning, or you running fine with it, open and closed?

It must be hard for him to breathe, what with his sphincter so tight around his neck and all.
I've been running one for a while, and there have been no problems at all. The only sensor I could see it crewing with is the "backpressure sensor" and as long as the flabber gasket and the kanuter valve are good, you'll have no problems.
Seriously, he's wrong. Dead wrong. I think it's funny how every time I do an upgrade, I hear that it'll screw this or that up. Well, if it does, I'll just upgrade what breaks then. The marine guys are really bad about this. My brother used some car headers with air fittings (to be used for water injection) as wet stacks on his boat for a while. The guy at the marine shop about died. He said "you can't use car parts on a boat. those will never work. You'll have a fire".
Well they worked great and the engine compartment was actually cooler than with the cast iron manifolds. He took them out when he got a deal on some actual wet stacks and he still has them. Thread Starter

Thanks for the replies so far. Yea it did dawn on me, that something was not right. And i also thought if it were true, how come ive never heard or read here on the forums about people having problems with their chip after doing a cut-out.
Im sure if it was a problem we would here more about it right? Well that lift my spirits up now, i feel more confident on this situation. Granted i cant deny that tuning would help my car, as im sure it probably runs lean from the get-go, so thats always in the plans as soon as i figure out how to read and burn chips.
Ill have pics and soundclips very soon.....

yeah hes wrong, i have an exhaust which consistes of stock manifolds , a gutted cat and no muffler , which goes out to a 4th gen z28 style tip on each side. The sensors dont go off or make the car run crappy, i lost a little low end but its worth it to me for the noise it makes. I love loud.l
