Fact or Fiction?

I am deleting my A/C and smog crap to make room in my engine bay.

Is it true that by pulling the A.I.R. stuff out and plugging the tubes on the headers (if I even get them with A.I.R.) that I have a chance at burning up a valve?

Also... my car is currently a computer controlled 305 TBI.... will I be okay without changing the chip at all? I will get involved in chip burning eventually, but I don't have the time or money to buy the equipment right now.

False. No chance of it.

With a TBI car you should always get into chip burning. It is not really necessary until you swap heads and cam. However, there is always a significant amount of power to be had with chip work no matter how stock your car is. Stay away from stage X off the shelf chips. I had every bolt on and trick done to my TBI car before the cam went in and used the stock tune. I had a slight idle problem and the car ran a little rich. A little chip work would have cleared that up and probably gave me more than 20 hp.

Thanks!

I may get into PROM burning soon, but i plan on getting a 350 next summer, and I haven't decided if I want to keep the ECM or just go carburated. I am very torn.
