Crap what now?
I have a 3" cat. I gutted it and got a 3" OD pipe to slide though it. And it is tight as hell, I don't see how I am going to get it though
Any suggestions? I would have just kept it, but the cat took a crap because of the leaky injectors.

Just take the cat out and weld in that 3" section. That is what I would do. If your cat was a slip fit and installed as such you could get a 3" cat for around $30 off of ebay.

110VAC outlet, a few minutes of practice on scrap pieces (like the cat you just removed), you can weld.

Damn, thats a nice price, however would the quality of welds from this thing be any good? I may pick this up. I have a 2 gas welder at the moment and hate having to refill it.

Ok, put it on, clamp it temporarily, then take the car to Midas or something and have them weld it. A competent shop should be able to do it for you in about 10 minutes for almost no cost.

Adam, last time I did that (Midas) it was $75 and I had to take it back twice for leaking welds. The 3rd time in there, they put muffler putty over the leaks they created. That was 8 years ago, who knows what they'd charge now.
I just used that welder to weld up new mufflers on the '57 this spring. Also used it to weld subframe connectors to the floor pan (did the structurals 1st with stick, but it blew thru the pan). Used it last spring to weld around my header primary tubes at the flange so I could port match them. Only difference is the welder I used is borrowed from a co-worker.
Will your beads look like a production gas mig job? Probably not. Will they be good enough? With adequate practice, yes.

Ok, maybe "Midas" and "competent shop" shouldn't have been used together. My bad

I got it. Thanks for the offer Mike, its appreciated. Any 3" would have been slightly too big. I had to modify my pipe a little. When can I see the orange machine?

I tried to take mine to a shop to have them build a system to connect to my Y-pipe and they wouldn't do it. They would not work on my car because it didn't have a cat and its illegal for the to work on it.
But if you want just go to a shop and tell them that it is a race car the doesn't drive on the street.
