Will hooker 2055 work on my car????

I have an 84 trans am with the 305 carbureted engine. It has all of the emissions stuff still on and I am looking into getting the hooker 2055 headers. The problem is the ad says they fit 86-90 camaro. I also called Jegs and they told me that these wouldnt work for my car, but I thought they could work. Will they work on my car? Thanks

They will bolt up just fine but you will have to do a little fab work where the y-pipe meets the cat. That is the reason for the delegation between model years. I am not familiar with the older style AIR set-up and you may need a little fab work there. Someone else will chime in on that. I am pretty sure there isn't though.

They will fit like shifty said. But I think on the drivers side the air tube is pointing in the oposite direction when you install the header. Anyone know how to fix that problem?

The best thing to do with an '84 exhaust is remove it all. Then install '86-'90 TPI single-cat application replacement parts, starting with the 2055 headers.

The A.I.R. check valve fitting on the driver's side of the 2055's points to the rear. You can cut the tubes at the primaries and weld them back on so the valve faces the front, or what I did was get some brass pipe elbows and nipples at Ace Hardware to get the valve facing the front again.

ACS will cut and weld in right direction. I would do whole exhaust system specific to 2055's set up with a direct fit 3 inch slip on cat and cat back system that matches the the 1986-90 tpi converter.
