Louder muffler

I am finally getting a better sound for my 305 TBI. My stock exhuast is still in good shape and I am deciding to just go and change the muffler only. Does this sound like a good thing to do? The recent system is not rusted or anything I just want a better sound but i will eventually get a better cat-back but i doubt it. Anyway just fill me in if you got anything to say

I used to have a dynomax super turbo catback on my car. IMO it sucked , it sounded very soft and it rusted up nicely. It has since been replaced.

well i think i will go with that super 40 series. i will loose my dual outlet pipes but that's ok. i will only have one tail pipe and i don't know where i should have it exit. so far i was thinking i could have it come straight out right behing the left rear tire with a dual tip. if you guys have idea i am open to them. i will kinda miss the dual pipes but i am looking for the sound so i am willing to sacrafice lol

PS to John B, did you put your 40 series in the back like from the factory because that's where plan to put mine and it should be street legal right?

I went out and visisted the muffler shops and i just decided to go with a direct replacement 80-series from flowmaster. i still wanted to keep my dual outlet pipes. So I am just gonna have this muffler place put on an 80-series with new tail pipes for about $140 + tax. I think it's a reasonable price- I'm just looking for the sound plus all my pipes are practically brand new anyway.

When I put in my 80 series I was very disappointed with the sound. Then, after about a week it "broke in." I am no longer unhappy. I love it.

I still think you would be better off running a regular 40 series with a single drivers side outlet. Its gonna sound better and be cheaper.

OH YEAH!

I got my 80 series put on and I like my car so much better now. It's hard not to go out driving now. it's only been 2 days on it so far but it sounds mean. I can't wait to see what it will sound like when it breaks in. i have also been a little more friendly with the gas pedal

PICS!

the price was $145.43 with everything including tax. It was only $145 because I used my old 2 1/4 pipes because my system was still in good shape and you will see what he did to make them fit. He was going to put on 2 1/2 pipes but i guess he thought the old ones were still on good shape plus if he had installed new pipes, the price still would of stayed the same. hmm well i probably should of told him to put 2 1/2 pipes on now that i think of it....

Ok i finally got some pictures here. There are some other ones but most are of what i got done on the muffler. Feel free to take a look and enjoy.
