Y-pipe touching oil pan. Is this ok?

You all know how tight our y-pipes are to the pan to begin with. Well I've since swapped a 406 in with a Moroso 6qt street/strip pan made for our cars and Hedmans shorties and y-pipe. I've already had to refab the y-pipe to to fit together but part of it is still touching the oil pan slightly. Is this going to make that much more of a difference than if its 1/8" away like it would be if it fit properly(with a stock pan).

Seems like it may heat the oil up pretty bad if it is right on top of it. If there is a gap, at least some air can travel between it.

It can't touch otherwise it'll vibrate and wear a hole through the pan. i just installed the same pan and had a y pipe fabbed up.
I got a little gap in between them, but just to make sure, I got a piece of header tape I'm gonna run on the y pipe where it may touch the oil pan.

Mine was rubbing really bad and indeed it did heat up the oil. It also wore a nice mark in the pan. I'm tryin gto fab something up but with the SS slp y pipe its kinda hard to do.

I would not think your oil would get much hotter than your coolant for the fact that they circulate the same motor in their passages...right?

Do NOT run the car with that setup for very long. The exhaust gets a hell of a lot hotter than the rest of the engine.. by a few hundred degrees. Engine oil is also another fluid in the engine that COOLS. If you leave that y-pipe pressed up against the oil pant, then u will cook the oil which will turn it into sludge. Say goodbye to ur bearings and u may even get the engine to lockup. Take it from me - i bought my car from a guy who did that.. the bearing were NOT pretty. The 400 that was in it was totally f*cked. Get that y-pipe at least 1/8 of an inch away from the oil pan.
