Banks vs SLP loudmouth vs flowmaster 80 series

I just wanna know how the sound of the banks cat back compares to the slp loud mouth and the flowmaster 80 series. I have the flowmaster 80 series on my trans am now and its not loud enough for me. I want the sounds of the loudmouth w/ the rare/uniqueness of the banks. What ya guys think!

The thing that seems to throw me off is that I have an 80 series muffler on my 85Z 305 tpi w/ manifolds and cat and it sounds louder than my 89 gta 350 tpi w/ headers dual hi fow cats and and 80 series cat back?

can't speak for the SLP kit as I have not heard it personally. The banks kit sounds Wayyyyy better than the flowmaster IMO!..The sound is much more refined than the flowM..The Banks has a rich aggressive note all the way up through the RPM band, whereas IMO the flow seems to rumble more down low and then begin to drone..Your thoughts on my view?..agree or disagree anyone?

Theres nothing wrong w/ the motor! I was thinking it could be the cats also! I really want the banks I just want to get a little more feedback on it!

SLP Loudmouth all the way.....

It's quiet at idle and at part throttle, but when you get on it, it's gets pretty damn loud......

OK, here's what I found when I was looking. I too was between the Banks, the Flowmaster and the Loudmouth.

First off, the Flowmaster does have a droning sound, but to me IMHO, it's not that bad and it's not all the time. I personally LOVE the sound of a Flowmaster. The 40 series is louder than the 80, if volume is a concern.

The Banks system sounds awesome too, but too refined for me. On a daily driver, maybe, but way too tame for my "fun" car. I also heard a few clips and in my "opinion" it has that GM 3.8 liter poppy sound under hard acceleration. Again, just my opinion.

Then the Loudmouth. I ended up chosing it over the others. I can't say enough good things. Just plain MEAN! At idle, it certainly a lot louder than the others, but not uncivil. Open it up and watch out, it's obnoxious!!! No comparison to any other catback I've heard. Everyone who hears it absolutely loves it. Now I have headers and a cam too, which obviously helps.

There's no way I'd ever change it!

when i went to my local custom exhasut shop i asked the owner (the guy that bends the pipes and makes the exhaust) and he told me that banks and borla sound alot alike (atleast if u have the cat-back made for 3rd gen) but idunno if it's true...

a friend of mine had this problem too. but on his 2000 Z28. i told him to unhook the y-pipe so it was just the cats and that would be what it wouls sound like. he got the LM and that's what it sounded like but with less popping. so i say u take off your muffler and see if u like it. all the LM is is 3in pipes with a resonator that's maybe 1-1.5 ft long....am i right Abubaca, i can't remember when we put my friends on

The LM is just a 4" pipe welded inline between the 3" pipe. Resonator, muffler, whatever you wanna call it!

The lenght of pipe certainly affects sound though. It muffles it alot compared to running just open exhaust.

Well the loud mouth seems to get the vote over the banks. My buddy has the loud mouth on his 95 Z28 and I LOVE IT! I think I might be leaning more towards the loud mouth guys! Any suggestions welcome! Also Abubaca did you get the one for the ls1? What had to be done to get it to fit? Also am I going to have any fitting issues having dual cats?

Both the LT1 and LS1 systems are the same, but the LT1 system comes with an additional install kit. If you're gonna gave it done proffesionally, don't pay for the extra LT1 kit. If you do it yourself, then the extra pieces will help.

The cat on a fourth gen is closer to the center, so you'll need to have a "S" pipe fabbed to go from the loudmouth muffler/resonator to the cat. Obviously since your car is a dual cat car, it'll need to be fabbed anyway.
