Which size headers for my car?
I'm not sure whether to go with the 1-5/8" or the 1-3/4" headers for my brother's 92 Firebird. It was a 305 TBI, but now is a 350 TPI out of an 87. The motor has a big Comp cam in it, can't remember the specs but I remember it is more agressive than a ZZ4. Topend has been ported and heads have been redone. My mom wants my bro to put the car back to emissions legal, so she wants to order some headers from me for the car. I'm not sure if we should go with the 1-5/8" or the 1-3/4" though.
The car currently has some Hooker Comps on it, but we're gonna get some SLPs with AIR and have them coated. I've heard the 1-5/8" headers will go in without any problems, so this way I can have the headers coated, then drop them in the car in a day. With Chris's car (Abubaca) we had to dimple the 1-3/4" headers a little before we installed them. This would mean I'd have to test fit, then send out to be coated, then install them on the car. This would mean the car would be down for over a week. I'd really like the 1-3/4"s, but if the 1-5/8"s will work just as well, might as well go with what is easier.
Damn, I'm torn here......

1 5/8" will not work just as well. Now that I have 1 5/8" on both my 85 and my 95 I wish I had gone with 1 3/4. Maybe they are more work but they are certainly worth it just for the power gain. Putting shorties on the 95 was a royal pain in the you know what. I am switching the ones on the 85 to long tubes soon and selling the 1 5/8. I will have to have a custom y pipe made. It will be worth it.

OK, you guys convinced me. I'm ordering the 1-3/4" right now.

OK, I ordered them! Should be here in a couple of days.
I also ordered a fuel pressure regulator to get this bastard running right.
