Cut-out in place of cat?

My 2055's should be here in a few weeks and I was going to put a high-flow cat on, then hook that up to my 3" Edelbrock cat-back. I was wondering if there's an electric, or the cable-style, cutout that is a direct replacement for a standard cat? I'd like to be able to open and close the cutout from inside the car. Is there any cutout that will get close to fitting or will I have to get one and take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it on?

if you want to open and close the cutout from inside, the electric one is the only way. More than likely you'll have to weld it into the piping...and if you want to wake up the the dead, put it in before the cat (between the y-pipe and the cat), thats pretty much open headers when you you flip it!!

Well I want a cutout in place of a cat. When it goes headers, y-pipe, cutout, then cat-back. Are there any electic cutouts that are direct replacements for cats?

No. Cut-outs are only a few inches long whereas a cat can be up to a foot long. You will need some sort of pipe to fill in the gap.

The route I took, which does cost more money that most would spend, was to buy a mac offroad pipe, which is a direct swap with the slip fit 3 inch cat, and weld a cutout into that. It's a really sweet setup and almost looks factory.

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to go to an exhaust shop and have them fab up a pipe to connect my y-pipe to the cutout to the cat-back...
