header question

I just ordered the gmpp 350\330 crate. are the exhaust ports on the vortec heads the same as the older style non-vortec heads. Basically will my edelbrock headers bolt to them. also when i look for header gaskets are the vortec heads what they refer to as the lt-1 d style or will just the standard 350 header gaskets work
thanks in advance!!!

Goto Chevy online and get the jig pattern 4 the new heads u r gettin' and copare the bolt holes 2 what u have, then you can get the matching gaskets just about anywhere!!! Or Haynes or Chilton's

Believe I've read the headers bolt up and the ports match ok, but they are just a bit higher up on the head, cause just a bit of trouble getting the headers and pipes to realign. Not sure of this by any means.

the exhaust ports on the vortec heads are a little smaller than the opening in the headers but the mating surface around the ports is more than enough area to seal to. should be fine from what I saw when I matched them up. I actually was able to bolt the headers loosely to the heads then slid the block in and bolted it to the trans and motor mounts. worked great. Thanks for the input

Headers will bolt on fine.

Sounds like a good combination in your car, plenty of power, decent gas mileage with the R4 tranny, and nice driver too.

Havent got on it yet (only 85 miles on it so far) but I cant believe how smooth it is. 60 mph it is only turning 1800 rpm. It has a nice rumble, and should have some get up and go once i get her broke in.
