Hey fella's, just got done installing the 3.5" mufflex system with a spintech muffler and single outlet. All I can say about the sound is WOW! We used the dual cat system, took 3" pipes off the FL headers and used a single 4" pipe to merge them then necked it down to the 3.5" I know some of you may think that using the 4" Y-pipe may be useless, but it is all in the name of velocity and flow. I previously had dual 3" under it and I really think it picked up some low end and didn't lose any off the top. This thing sounds great, this is the 7th exhaust system on the car and by far the best sounding! I also channeled the crossmember to keep everything tucked up close and retain max ground clearance.

Just to throw in my 2 cents....

I am running the Mufflex 3.5" exhaust system with
the Spintech muffler. I get nothing but compliments
with the sound. Way better than Flowcrapper! Those
systems rot out all the time.

This is my brothers 383 super ramed, 91 camaro, it has a 4 in. mufflex with hooker long tubes. He has the race series flowmaster. It sounds great. Most people think it is a big block when they hear it. And it is not rusting at all. It over two years old.

my mufflex 4in single outlet is about 5 yrs old. i have had no problems with it and no one ever confuses my car for someone else's! it wieghs lik 65lbs, but i love the deep rumble. mine has a flowmaster muffler. ive heard the spintechs, and ive heard an edelbrock, but they dont sound so much differnt. andi couldnt dream of taking a $140 muffler off my car! what the hell would i do with it then?

IMO the Spintech on Mufflex's 4" system sounded horrible, on my application anyway. After spending the extra few hundred to get the dual out Spintech system, I traded for a used Mufflex Flowmaster single in/out and tailpipe. Sounds like it should now. Not to mention the Spintech was nearly 15lbs heavier!

I am just the opposite, I had a flowmaster and it sounded awful, it got extremely tinny sounding anything above 3k rpm, the spintech sounds awesome at all RPM's. My spintech did not seem to weigh that much more.

It's my brothers car. Im not sure if he wants me to post every thing. But I'll tell u it is a 383 with a superram, in the 11's. Did you run your car that night at rsd? Your car looks familar. Did you have slicks on the back with black wheels? I think i remeber a red third gen with your wheels on the front and black ones on the back.

do you think that going from longtubes and true duals to shorties and custom y-pipe and a single 3.5" will slow the car down?

I'm not doggin on ya, but I dont think with your current motor you'll lose anything. Crazy as it sounds i think it might actually help some. Keep your current set-up stored somewhere though so when you step up into a bigger mill you have the system to back it up. If nothing else, skip the 2.25" and go 2.5" pipes. That will support a healty 355 also.

I used to run the Heddman LT into true dual 2.5" pipes and it picked up-cant remember but it was better than the factory manifolds and single exhaust.

from what I head on spintech's website, I love em! I got an LO3 now with no cat and flowcrapper, and Im still blueprintin out the 383 for it (just got the block from the machine shop today )

But one big difference I notice (other than their motor and mine) is it doesnt have that crappy sounding backpressure when you let off the throttle at high RPMs, I think u guys know what Im talkin about. I didnt hear anything like that on any of the SBC they had on their. That right there is a big selling point for me! it sounded smooth and deep all the way up and down the RPM range.

the sound of the spintech is un-matched. no one could reproduce that sound. big block at idle and it was very crisp, but not too raspy while on the gas.... but the interior noise! it drove me to swap the muffler.

Catco wud be the first place Id look. Im sure they make 4", considering newer diesel and BB trucks are starting to come out with aftermarket performance parts. Might have to go thru them direct though, but who knows, maybe jegs or summit might have one.

Guys, don't get too rapped up on the SpinTech's. We've done a lot of dyno testing on exhausts. Unfortunately Spintech and Flowmaster are the two worst mufflers to use on the f-body applications. Unfortunately, this is the only two choices Mufflex has to offer with their system. My personal car is a 91 Camaro using the Mufflex 3.5" single tail system. I switched from the Spintech to a Hooker Aerochamber and picked up just over 10rwhp. I will say the idle was awesome sounding on the Spintech, but overall the sound is much better plus more power with the Hooker. The Mufflex will need to be modified slightly to fit the Hooker but we do keep them in stock. Unfortunately, Hooker doesn't have any in 4" size.

I've been running FLO-PRO's V-force on my GTA. Basically its a much better copy of a Flowmaster 40. Flows much better and sounds better too. I have never heard an F-body sound like mine.

spintech and flows dont flow, LOL
ive personally seen 10 WHEEL HP loss from a head and cam ls1 car
flowaster vs cutout. 15 wheel hp
dynomax vs cutout, only picked up 5 wheel hp.
ive seen 20 on a built Lt1 car. by changing the slowdisaster to a dynomax. :hail:

Dynomax Ultraflow Weldeds are the best flowing muffler on the market. I Just don't like how they sound.

lil raspy like a borla, with a hint of a flowmaster sound. very mute. they arent crazy loud on the inside and the exterior noise aint bad either. i run a 3" offset/3" center.... then a bullet muffler inline as well. i have a pretty stout small block and its very tame for its power.

Sorry, but i disagree, my buddy had a 94 Z28 with one of these. It sounded ok but the muffler started to rust in 2 yrs. And how could it be a better copy of a flowmaster, if its a copy?

Better copy meaning that there are alot of copies of Flowmasters floating around. Its a better copy than the other copies.

what do u guys think about the aerochambers? sound and performance wise? I know a guy at my works got a BUILT all out drag 77 chevy and he runs those, but its kinda hard to compare how they sound on his blown nitro'd BB to my stroker SB

hookers are really quiet at idle, and they really open up when you step on it. great flowing mufflers as well. i do think ive seen some CFM ratings where the dynomax flows more... just dont get an offset/offset muffler, it kills flow.

center/center
center/offset
only way to go.

If you run the pipes like the factory did you have to go offset/center.

I decided on Spintech after listening to many different soundclips.

When i ordered the 3" catback the guy at spintech said they didnt have the curved piece of pipe that goes over the rear axle
I was like wtf, Anyway, the guy that installed it said he had a hell of a time getting it on there, as some of the curves in the pipe didnt seem right. Its slightly crooked in the back right now, and pi$$es me off somewhat. I need to have it adjusted to fit right.

anyway the sound is awesome. very low tone at idle...almost quiet. But when you get on it at WOT, the pitch gets higher and it sounds very mean. JUst wish i had more HP now to really make it do its thing.
