Buddy of mine had a Spintech sportsman on his '95 Chevy 1500 with 305 TBI. That thing was loud as hell. Made the whole truck shake. He took that muffler off and put a Magnaflo in its place. I put the EXACT same Spintech on my 5.0 TPI GTA and it was as quiet as an OEM muffler. Never understood that. That is with a gutted Cat on my car. The V Force sounds mean as hell, but then I like the raspy popping sound that some people don't like. Can't wait to get my 5.7 GTA soon so I can put a V-Force on it to see what it sounds like.

Unfortunately, this is the only two choices Mufflex has to offer with their system. My personal car is a 91 Camaro using the Mufflex 3.5" single tail system. I switched from the Spintech to a Hooker Aerochamber and picked up just over 10rwhp. I will say the idle was awesome sounding on the Spintech, but overall the sound is much better plus more power with the Hooker. The Mufflex will need to be modified slightly to fit the Hooker but we do keep them in stock. Unfortunately, Hooker doesn't have any in 4" size.

Oh man! That sucks! All this time I thought Spintech
was a great flowing muffler!

What do I need to do to get a Hooker muffler to work
on my 3.5" catback Mufflex?

HA HA HA! That was SO funny I forgot to laugh!

( Excusing that first "HA"!)

Thanks for the info! I thought that it would magically
just install up there itself!

I e mailed Denny at Mufflex. I will find out for sure if it
really doesn't flow as it should! But why would they
sell a HIGH HP system ( the most expensive too!) and
sell "weak flowing" mufflers??? HUH???? Answer that!

lighten up it was a joke, sorry for ruffling your feathers, hopefully i can help.
i have a mufflex myself and i have ridden of the spintech as well. i havent been to the dyno, but taking off the spintech dual out that comes with the mufflex (4") and adding a THREE inch dynomax ultra flow AND a bullet muffler also THREE inch, i picked up .05 on my 60ft and almost 1mph on a local 1/8 mile track. my car is very consisant and tests were done in same racing conditions. the car is so much more quiet its unreal inside, and outside the noise is cut in half.
i believe they send out the flowmaster or the spintech because its the only readily available 4" muffler to work with their kit. a dynatech or a borla XR1(oval) muffler will fit, but i wanted the low tone of the dynomax. here is a pic i found on the net a while back when i was searching all this.

Hey, I KNOW you were joking! That's my sense
of humor. TYPING it is a little bit different than
personally talking to you.

Great, so I am stuck with a $600+ system with a
weak flowing muffer. I even picked out Spintech
because I heard that it outflows and sounds
quieter than Flowmaster. So even my Spintech
is STILL not as great flowing as it should be?

So, I guess I should probably wait until they come
out with a different muffler? What type of brand?
Hooker? Dynomax? I like it loud, but not too loud!
What would you suggest for a 3.5" dual outlet system?

UPDATE: Nevermind! David at Thunder Racing just emailed
me back. Said that my best bet is what he did and you did:
get rid of the Spintech and tailpipe, and convert to
single in/out with a different muffler. I may just end up
getting the Hooker one. He picked up 10RWHP with
the same 3.5" system.

So, who wants a slightly used Spintech muffler and
tailpipe???

No, it's just smoke after the car's been running. It may
just be that color from the reflection off the inside pipe
or the flash of the camara.

Just to update the thread. Magnaflow has come out with a 3.50 inch muffler part number 12909. It has a offset/center inlet/outlet. I understand that Mufflex now offers this muffler. Should be a big improvement.
