This wont hurt, will it?
I have a 92 RS 305 TBI, the car is bone stock, aside from ignition, and K&N filter. The other day I was rollin down the highway at a pretty good clip and a quarry-truck turned in front of me about a 1/8 mile up. As I close in, about ten 8-10 inch rocks (picture BIG softball) come rollin of the back. I employ various Andrettie style driving manuvers to avoid catching one in the windshield. In the process I clip one with the inside of the back tire, it spits out and makes my muffler about 20 pounds lighter, as in tore it off. I go back and retrieve my muffler, it's down for the count. I know I cant run it straight pipe (LOUD) so I used this old muffler I had laying around. It's a super turbo of some kind (center in-offset- exit) only about 13 inches long. I have no tailpipe, so it exits underneath. I'll run it this was until I can get a good aftermarket one (flowmaster, dynomax, hooker, ect.) The quetion is, will the corrosive properties of the exhaust gas (no cat) affect the condition of my car in any way? Paint, tires, anything? I've heard that it can tarnish paint over time, but I dont plan on leavin it there very long, very bad interior resonace.
Big Thanks,
Max

You will be fine. There is hardly any sulfur in todays fuels to create the sulfuric acid that used to rot out exhausts after 60k. Also, most exhaust systems (OEM and aftermarket) are aluminized which further increases its lifespan.
