exhaust options

alright guys. most of ya'll know me or at least know about me. i am the guy that is trying to take a .030 over 305 with a standard stroke to it's streetable limits. the car is driven every day so keep that in mind and no, i will not consider use of nitrous. a five speed would make this a whole lot easier but i just don't think it will do.

current fastest times:
60ft': 2.03 (no tire spin, just need a higher stall converter)
1/8: 8.849 @ 80mph
1/4: 13.759 @ 100.5mph(if i can run the bottom end of the track i think this will be faster)

Goal:
as close to that 12 second run as possible without killing streetability

things i've done to help so far since last run:
4.10 gears (28" tires, very close to a 3.73 with 26")
ordered an ATI Performance Products Torque converter stall ~2800
continue to play with the vacuum secondaries

now the part that is in question: THE EXHAUST!
i am currently running:
hedman longtubes into true dual 2 1/2" pipes. h-pipe and summit racing mufflers.

i have sitting on the shelf at the shop:
coated set of 2460's.

here is my proposition:
buy the new y-pipe and modify it to y into a 3.5" pipe instead of the 2.5". build my own catback running a race muffler in the stock location using 3.5" pipe. i can weld and have access to a welder. this would put the car back to as stock looking as possible (no dual mufflers poking underneath the car) and would give me the option to lower the car.

mw66 u really cant ask for any more out of the exhaust than u are getting. long tubes will always make more power than shortys. u really have a good efficient dual setup there. longtubes with 2 1/2" pipes not crush bent or anything. kepp the dual set up. i really would try just a different muffler option. try a couple flowmaster 40's or a set of hooker aerochambers. you will prolly increase more with the aerochambers because they are almost stright through. i guarantee u will be a low low 13 with the converter and gear change.

i don't know, it's kinda loud with it dumping right under the car. what if i carried it up over the axle and took it right out the back of the car? BMR makes a really nice bracket that allows you to put dual exhaust over the axle without interfering with the panhard rod. it relocates the panhard mount on the car about 2" lower and the support bar that goes across the top is replaced wtih a tubular piece that has this really unique bend in it.

Your money is best spent elsewhere. That is a pretty neat set up. I am aiming for low 10's with a similar setup so I don't think the exhaust is choking anything.
