2055 problem
I am installing a set of Hooker 2055s and the passenger side one absolutely will not fit. It interferes with the frame where the lower control arm mounts. I grinded the collector flange to make it fit (blue arrow) and I had to grind the other side to keep it from hitting the bellhousing (red arrow). After all that, the ypipe won't fit. Not only does it hit the afore mentioned a-arm mount, but it doesn't line up with the two headers either.... it seems as if they are too far apart. Anyone with similar problems??? All I've heard is good about these headers, that's why I spent the $400 on them. First I thought the control arm mount must be shifted backwards, but after grinding the headers to fit, the ypipe should match up since everything is bolted to the block and heads. Any ideas? I'm this close to selling the car.

OK, here's an idea (about the ypipe not fitting). Do our cars require a special oil pan? The problem may lie in that the ypipe is hitting the oil pan. I can cut it and make it fit, but that deafeats the purpose of me spending the extra moolah on these to avoid that. Motormounts should be fine... about a year and a half old. I built a 350 for it and just used a regular oil pan. As far as the header interference, it could be the result of an accident before I got the car. It's been on a frame machine and everything measures up (as far as wheel distances, etc.), but a little bit here and little bit there in other places may create a headache.
