Convert to Dual Exhaust
86 TA with 305. Drive train is stock. Currently have stock exhaust (single cat to single muffler with dual outlets). Would like to convert to headers, dual cats (need to still pass smog tests) and dual mufflers. Is this easy to do? Where to go for info and parts/conversion kit?
Looking for more hp and some wicked exhaust sound.

Take a look around on this forum and the FAQ forum. Duals on our cars are fairly simple through the cats, after that life gets tough.
It's basically a waste of time. Get headers, cat, and cat-back for '86-'90 TPI single cat application. That'll pass emissions and give you all you need powerwise.

Seriously, take a look before you post. I mean you don't even have to do a search, 1 out of every 3 posts is about dual exhaust.

I did it on mine. Please refer to the other thread regarding this subject. It is like 3 pages long, and I posted on the third page.
You have to find someone with a lot of patience and some talent and attention to detail. And I'd suggest some mandrel J-bends that can be cut to fit and welded as you go. The Summit X-pipe crossover seems to work well with the strange routing and angles you have to go through, but I suppose an H-pipe would be just as easy. Cats are straddled so that they fit.
It can be done, but it isn't real easy. It sure is a nice system when you have it done though.
