Effects of no converter?
Besides not passing emissions,what are the other downsides of not having a cat?
Less fuel economy? etc...?

Besides the smell you are likely to hear poping, rasp and drone at speeds. Your muffler selection will dictate this a lot but even at that you are bound to have it. The cat does an amazing job of sound reduction. My car almost sounds the same with my cat on or off.

one of the downsides would be settin off alot of alarms when you cruise....
