Ok guys i want some opinions
Im trying to decide which way to go on my exhaust. If i want to go with a single 4 inch or true duals and if i should go with 2 1/2 or 3 inch. Right now the car is fairly mild probably 325 horse but this summer it will be over 400. The car is a street car that i cruise in on the weekends. I do not plan to spin the motor past 6,000. Im pretty much building the entire performer RPM package except im going with trickflow heads. Im looking for brutal midrange power. My car is a 5speed with 3.73's. Im a major oldschooler love the sound of 2 chamber flows and a cam. So what do u guys think would be the best?

Right now i have the hooker catback with the supercomp shorties and a mild comp cam XE262HR and its got good sound quality but its just weak to me. I hear all these muscle cars with flows and i just start drooling. Plus im in competition with my dads 68 big block camaro. We are always having a battle to see who has a better car. I bought the bird so then he goes out and buys the maro so i buy a GTP and mod it and he goes and buys a Z06. Im about to crack open the spray and wup that ***. Father and son rivals are a blast.

All 3 systems you wanted to know about will perform about the same on a 400 hp motor. The single 3" would have to have a good muffler and y pipe. I think if you can come up with a good true dual that would sound the best.
i'm in the same boat, XE276HR i believe is my cam, i forgot, not very good with numbers....i know its .503/.510 lift adn 224/230 duration, and HSR intake and many other things, i'm going for abotu 400 ponies as well, i think i'm gonna try that dual setup myself...what were you thinking for pipe size? dual 2.5's or dual 3's??? and what flowmaster muffler were you thinking? i don't have much experience with how different mufflers sound, i was also thinking maybe some spintech mufflers, what do you think?

Well if i was going to buy everything new i would do dual 2.5 then i would still have a good amount of torque. But since my friend is selling me his setup off of his small block S10 which is dual 3 inch that are straight pipes into 2 2chamber 40 series flowmasters which will give it that oldschool muscle car sound. But with the dual 3 im going to be giving up some bottom end power but the price is right. Plus with the 2.5 u will have a little bit more ground clearance i recommend the 2.5 duals. What kind of exhaust sound do u like i have the hooker aero chamber on right now and it has a nice mellow deep tone to it.
well i want something loud, but i don't want it to sound like the straight piped trucks around here that just sound like sh*t...i live in a smaller sized city, so everybody just ni**er rigs exhaust systems together around here...i like the aerochamber sound, but i'm afraid that won't be enough, i've heard flowmasters from sound clips and tv and what not, and I really like that sound, but a couple folks told me to try some spintech's too...I know the bullets will be obnoxiously loud, and they won't have very good sound quality to them.....the perfect exhaust for me would be something pretty loud, but still maintaining decent sound quality, and i don't want to muffle the exhaust down so much that you can't hear my lopey cam at idle....i want that sound to be heard because i love that when you hear a car far away idling all lumpy...you think dual 40 series or super 40's would be good??

It sounds like you would be more happy with the aero chambers they have a more meaty sound to them. What you can always do is do a dual setup with the aero chambers and then put 2 cutouts towards the front then you can have really loud when u want or u can cruise around with a nice sound. Kind of make a compromise.
yea thats what i was just thinking today, just get some nice sounding mufflers that maybe aren't quite as loud, then put in 2 cutouts...because i can put cutouts in after i got my exhaust sytem together, so its not like i need cutouts immediately....you think dual aero's then? i was thinking maybe dual 2 chamber 40's then cutouts if i need louder, but i'm thinking those 40's are gonna be pretty loud to begin with....how much are cutouts, like 100 bucks a pop aren't they?

Nope check summit or jegs they are around 25 a piece for a manual one with wing nuts. The electric ones are around a 110. I have a cutout on mine right now. But ya go with aero's they have a real good sound to them. I get lots of compliments on the way mine sounds its just not loud enough for me.

yea i would get dual electric ones, beacuse it needs to be accessible somewhat quick...i posted in the MY EXHAUST IDEA thread in the exhaust here, and they were saying a single 3" outflows dual 2 1/2's...should i go with dual 3's? i'm going to be around 400 HP....

I dont know about the 3 outflowing the dual 2 1/2. i would think the 2 1/2 would do a little bet better not a hugh increase. If u run cutouts its not going to make a difference what is after the cutout. So for a street car even 400 horse i would say dual 2 1/2 it will still give your car a good amount of bottom end it might loose a little at the top but thats what the cutouts are for. So for all around dual 2 1/2. You can do dual 3 but u will have less clearence and u will loose some bottom power that u wont be able to get back.
