My fan not working, was my dumb butt forgeting to hook back up the fan switch plug. Once I saw where the wire was I clearly remeber removing it to make plenty of room for the install.

Here is the pic of the AC bracket installed:

Behind the AC bracket is a supplied spacer that came with the Headers from Edelbrock. The front bolt is the long bolt supplied by the Edelbrock TES kit and the second bolt is the stock bolt I reused.

I am guessing you guys all have serpintine belts, right?

I have v-belt and Edlebrock TES header install was really not that hard for me.

What we did was undolt the old original exhaust, dropped it out, no bolts were stuck exceot one, and we really have it some ****, we are both retired Navy and we got strnegth to us. We got her out. Cleaned all the threads.

The drivers side headers required us to remove the valve cover no biggie, slipped right in.

The passenger side header slipped right in from the top side even. We got the passenger in from topside without removal of anything except accesory brackets.

I guess we got off easy. LS1 headers, now thats an event there.

yeah the carb or even the TBI cars would be alot easier. the compressor for the AC is in a different spot plus the air tubes were what ade it a little more difficult since they are a perminant part of the header and couldnt unbolt them like the factory ones which took up some some room to manuver them around to get them in.

I do not have serpentine belt system, I think I have 4 belts. I am taking mine into the exhaust shop again to get a leak checked out that I can not find on the ground. Good luck to all that do this and it is really nice.

rudyt5000 - you are right about finding another bolt after another. I thought I would never finish finding bolts too.

rudy - post a link to your thread when/if you put it up. I'd definately like to read it before I start my install with the next few weeks.

Actually Ruddy I have been contemplating(wow that was a big word for me) one of these days we could have a little "Battle of the 305's Stock"meaning no nitros, no superchargers, and no turbos, for the stock just like mine and yours, and also have a modified categorie going to. i'd start a poll on this idea but i'm really sleepy right now.

just have the proper tools and alot of patience with those driverside 2 front bolts and remember where everything goes back....especially the a/c brackets, some of those rachet closed end wrenches would help alot i'd pay for a set of those just to have them for this install

Give us some more details on what you got ex. brand new headers, y=pipe, all the hardware/gaskets ?

im getting edelbrock Ti Tech coated headers with 3 inch y pipe. they are made for 86-90 cars with single 3 inch cat. My car is a 91 and i bought a 3 inch direct replacement cat so im hoping this will work out. The stock exhaust is 2.5, but its all been cut off now. im ordering them tomorrow.

Thats how its been for me. I have done 3 sets on my car. Hooker shorties, hedman LT's, and edelbrock TES. All fit like a glove. No modding them or removing engine mounts to make clearance.

after my engine swap, to install my headers, bolt them up and everything in between. It took me an hour.

I can even begin how babyish you guys are being saying they are hard to get in. My worst problem of all is tighetening the bolts. Thats worse then iunno, diagnosing tranny problems.

Mine still require a little bit of turning, but they slide in very nice. IMO, you guys are being foolish.

One question to add..

WHY THE HELL are your valve covers still on? it give you like 3 inches of extra clearance if you just take them off. Its what 4 bolts max and takes an extra $9 out of your pocket, just for the gasket if its even needed. Its well worth it.

My advice take your valve covers off and install them after that, then come complain how stubborn you were being by coming her wasting that much time instead of removing them.

I knwo people who dd headers arn't always mechanically inclined, but woah, its 4 bolts. What do they think will ahppen, if they remove the covers, the engine will blow up? You need to learn somehow people.

hey JACKASS, the valve cover is off, and that has nothing to do with it. It is almost impossible to get the last bolt in towards the windshield of the car because the pipe and AC crap is in the way. There is clearance but it doesnt leave you any room to twist ur fingers to thread it on. I dont have fat fingers, im hella skinny. **** off!

Well, lets not get angry. There is some very helpful hints for people attempting to install headers in the future. Headers are easy for some people... some they are very difficult.

no, i just take it really hard when people complain about how hard it is. It isn't hard at all. They are what drive people from doing it themselves. Its really THE EASIEST mod you can do ouitside of an air filter. IT takes like what, 16 bolts to undo, and just a little temper, the madder you get the more you seem to get done hen things go bad.

but its very easy. A cat back is almost requiring the same skill level.

the vette is due in a year. My cars isn't worth a set of 'vette tires.

instead of pumping money into the old 'bird I've decided to just save for a 'vette and have a set of wheels that will hold more value.

C4 Can't be done. That huge deep sill puts me in danger of slapping my face on pavemnet everytime I get out of one.

Has to be a C-5 ( the wife prefers them too)

We're getting a new Z06 in a few weeks but my pocket can't strecth to $75k but I'll still be able to drive it.
