AIR system

I have a dual cat car. One of the cats went bad and is choking off the engine. I found a shop that will just remove the cats and replace them with pipe. What do i need to do with the air tubes?

weld them shut or take out the entire AIR system.

You found a shop that is willing to risk a $25,000 fine to do this for you? Wow!

Have them weld in a little tube to each piece of straight pipe.

well, the exhaust work is done. he only charged me $100 to rip out the cats, and to replace the pipe after the muffler so he could install some slash cut crome tips. i thought it was a good deal. they just cut the air tubes off without capping them. is it going to do any harm if they are left open?

apparently here in oklahoma, several shops will do this since we dont have any inspection laws.
