Oops!!

I have had my car since I was 16. I was dumb and bought a pair of cheapy flowtech longtube headers. I couldn't go over speed bumps or go through stupid dips in the road with out scraping. I am now much smarter and want a good pair of shorties, does anybody have a pair they want taken off their hands? If not which ones would you guys recomend? Thanks in advance

Hooker 2055, Edelbrock TES, Hedman 68491 (dual cat version) all are shorties with decent y-pipe.

What are you trying to support, engine-wise?

Its a fairly tame 305 for now, no funds=no mods, except the free ones I already have a 3" cat exhaust without the cat hooked up to the longtubes that i want to keep but other than that no other mods so far, maybe performance chip, cam, heads when the moneys not so tight

I went with the Hooker 2055's with a fairly healthily modified 305. Many have used them with a stock LG4. The consensus seems to be that the 2055 y-pipe is the best one out there for a single 3" cat.

If you go with TES, don't get the ones for the LG4 application. The EFE valve really restricts those poor things. The '86-'90 TPI single cat application version is much better.

If I was starting from scratch today, I think I'd go for the Hedmans.

All of these are in the $350-$400 range.

A dual snorkle air cleaner is also a good idea to help that poor engine breathe.

Hedman 68470 are good too, and are around $130 at Summit. I have a set, and I really like them.

Okay, you didn't list year or induction, so I assumed a carb'd 305 (305 TPI isn't particularly lame, IMHO). Tunnel vision, I guess.

What year is the car?

2055's would be a good investment.

Know how much those run off hand? Also any other mods that aren't too crazy that you think might help?

www.summitracing.com . Type in "hok-2055hkr" in the search field at the top of the page. You'll soon see why I referred to them as an "investment".

If you used the '91 exhaust and it's single cat, replacing the exhaust will be a big boost to that powertrain. The single cat was only 2-1/4" diameter, major choke to any V8 engine.

After that, you're better off checking out the TPI and DYI PROM forums for other ideas to improve performance.
