Where to get 2055s?

Hey guys,

been pouring over these boards for awhile now looking for options as far as exhaust goes. Right now Everything is stock except for an 80 series flowmaster. Ive got a couple of holes in the intermediate pipe so first I thought id just get a new catback system.

Then I thought well i should prob get rid of the POS oem converter.

then i figure if im gonna go to all that trouble i may as well do headers too! so im gonna start with headers and work my way back.

so does anyone know where to get the ceramic coated hooker 2055s at a decent price?

also, I think im gonna go with the dual converter setup. seeing as the car is a single converter one now, what do I have to do with the AIR stuff to make this work?

little background - car is an 89 IROC 350, for the most part its stock so I realize the setup I want may be considered overkill for some but i want room to grow

thanks in advance for the input, and any other suggestions/thoughts are most welcome as well

You can get the 2055's uncoated from sumit and jegs and coated versions from ACS (site sponser, see above) and jet-hot. Your plan sounds good but I would stick with a single cat set-up. Dual cat set-ups are fine but they are costly and take away clearance that may be needed for sub frame connectors. A properly sized single cat can flow enough for your set-up.

is acs exoticcoatings.net? advantage over jet-hot?

hmmmmm........a single cat setup would be less difficult. At what point would having two cats be beneficial? I wouldnt mind doing it, although im sure it would be quite a time commitment for me, having never done that before and all but id rather do this only once and have the system be able to accomodate any future mods.

on a side note, if i had dual converters as original equipment, would there be no room for subframe connectors?

on the surface the question of exhaust for our cars seems simple, or at least i thought it did. Now with all this info here and all the options its more complicated than I could have imagined

many thanks for the input

ACS is no longer a sponsor on this board. Very poor service and customer relations.

Jethot is tried & true. A member runs his own coating service, forget his username, try a search on ceramic coating. Other outfits are available. I talked to a local coating house, they wouldn't guarentee getting the interior coated - which would trap all the heat in the steel. Not a good idea.

See this thread for a little more info on 2055's. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=302087 Although a hassle, buying them painted, fitting/modifying them, and then having them coated is probably the way to get the most out of them.

His username is TPl383 and his website is http://www.cecoatings.com .

No, the Spohn SFC's fit dual-cat cars. I believe the Alston's do too. I'm still wondering why you are converting to a dual-cat setup. I thinks it's a waste of time unless the parts fall into your lap for a real good price, i.e. take-off parts. Hooker shorty headers, single high-flow cat, and a good catback are more than satisfactory for your engine. Your not gaining much for the extra expense of converting.

When I responded to your part number question thread about the A.I.R. tubes, I was under the assumption that you were not switching from single to dual cats.

The car currently has a single cat. I havent done anything yet to it, as im still researching options and havent totally made up my mind about the whole situation.

I figure it would cost me roughly about the same to do the single vs dual since if i were to do the single I would prob buy all the stuff already fabricated and just throw it all on there. If I did dual id have to get the bends and pipe, and do quite a bit of work.

Not too concerned about any power/flow increases that the duals may have over the single, since it really isnt going to matter for what I have now. I dont mind the work and time it would take for the dual setup and from what I understand It should sound pretty good as well
