cut out opinions on power and timed gained
I have just purchased a cut out. Iwas wonderin if it gained anything in track time r horse power are just NOISE. My engine is built and not stock. Ive heard they lose hp on a stock engine but get the real high sound some people want. THANKS for any opinions.

You will gain some hp, but from the sound increase, it will feel weaker. It's basically a cheap $50 "catback" I have just removed the pipe after the cat, and it's loud and mean sounding, but it doesn't have the throaty-hollow sound a nice 3" catback with dual 3" pipes will give.

Thanks man. Ive got headman elite headers runin through a custom y pipe and 3 in. back to a 80 series flowmaster. I was wonderin if it would make a difference in track times with the cut out on and opened. Ill be finding out this Friday if it doesnt rain. But other people opinions would be great to hear until then.

Here's my experience,
Stock LG4, peanut cam, tiny heads, stock everything. 1 5/8 inch 2055s, 3 inch y-pipe, cutout before the 3 inch $50 catco cat, and a 3 inch hooker catback.
At the track through the full exhaust, everything else is stock besides the open element, it ran a 16.2 @ 82. After I uncapped the cutout, I ran a 15.9 @ 84.
With just a muffler, the hp change won't be as big compared to going through a cat.

I gain about 5 tenths at the track with my cutout open
But you can't really compare my setup with.....anyone really (it's that ****ty from the cutout back)
