Headers on a stroked 406???

I think I have my mind set, but I would just like some input from others.

I'm finishing up my stroked 406 that'll be going into my 84 Trans Am(details at my cardomain, check it out)

anyway I got afr 210s, big ports. I need some "big" headers

1 3/4 or 1 7/8 Full tubes prefered

ultimate plan is a pair for super comp hookers that are 1 3/4

anyone know of a good header that maybe 1 7/8 or will the hookers be enough?

I also plan on doing 2 straight pipes back to chambers ending before the rear axle with this setup...

For now untill I get more money I have slp shorties which are 1 3/4 that I picked up cheap.

Hooker SuperComps #2210. These will be fine for a 406, (BTW, which is a .030 over 400). Exhaust pipes will be an issue though.

yup .030 over

I'm gonna try and fit a 3 inch x pipe on it.

I run the Hooker super somps on mine and they should work just fine in your application. I run this car through the pipe and open header, no difference anywhere...that was the same results I had running my Heddman LT's with my old 355, ran the same corked or uncorked, same muffler type.

I've debated H or X pipe since right now I just have the dual pipes coming off the collectors into the m,ufflers dumping before the axle, but after finding the car does'nt mind corked/uncorked, the only advantage I'd see to an H or X pipe is to lower interior noise, no performance gains. Could be wrong on that idea since I have'nt tested it, but as tight as everything is under my car, installing yet another pipe would be a headache to say the least, already hve troubles gettng it on the trailer since it has to slide on the mufflers to get over the beaver tail.
