87 trans am 305 exhaust what do i use?

I have been looking at many of the exhaust types and am having alot of trouble deciding what i would want to use. I like the borla system for the most part but they have plates that you instal on one side of the exhaust to set the noise level. Not too fond of that.I would like a throaty noise but also option to tone it down if i need to. cost doesnt matter to me, also if you could suggest headers that i should use with it. I would like 3 inch a pair of 3 inch pipes growling in the rear of my car. Right now its basically a stock trans am, no upgrades, 3" exhaust, etc.

The choice of muffler all depends on how loud you want it. Personally I'd recommend something midrange, like a Magnaflow or possibly a Hooker Aerochamber. Both are available in 3 inch variants. Listen to the exhaust clip thread to get a better idea of what you're looking for.

If money is really no problem, buy a GMMG and thank me later. Possibly the best sounding cat-back system.

As for headers, get the Hooker 2055s, most people here have them and say they're the best for 3rd gens.

id recommend u use a dynomax catback and an exhaust cutout. that way u can be LOUD but still run "under the radar" when needbe.

The dynomax sounds pretty nice, thanks. Now for a serious problem, The stock rear on my trans am is going and quickly, alot of shake rattle and not much roll. What differential should i get to go with the 3:73 gears i am going to order. Or should i just do a full replacement of the housing?
