Help with broken stud on exhaust manifold
Help with broken stud on exhaust manifold
While I was taking the y-pipe off to install a starter, the 2 studs broke off on the passenger side. Can I take a die grinder and cut off the stud and then drill it out and use a nut and bolt? Really don't want to purchase headers at this point. Oh yeah, I was planning on doing this with the exhaust manifold still on the car (going through the bottom). Does this sound like it will work?
Thanks,
Chris

It'll probably work.
Any reason not to get a couple of studs from the Help! section?

LOL, I thought they were welded from the top. Any suggestions on removal? These things are so corroded that I doubt I can use the double nut trick. I will give it a shot though.
To make a long story short, it is a 92 Z28. I bought it without a starter. Normally, I know there is no need to take off a y-pipe (usually). I was ripped off on this board by some guy named Cody something. He sold me a starter and he told me it would fit a 92 305 f-body. I don't know what it was off of b/c it wouldn't line up, different bolt holes the whole nine yards. That is why the y-pipe is down, thought maybe some factory screw up was causing it not to fit above the y-pipe.
