Finally, a great sound for a stock F-car

Had a custom exhaust shop put this together.Basically a knock off of the SLP "loudmouth"system they sell for'93 up F- cars. I already had a 3"intermediate pipe on the car, a custom random technology cat. converter with a 3" outlet, the inlet is stock size so i didn't have to install headers at the time. The guy put the loud mouth muffler in the intermediate pipe before the axle. Used a 'U' bend, a y-pipe and some 2 1/2 pipe to get two tailpipes where i wanted them. It sounds so great. After the job the guy said i could have just ordered the 93 up system and he could have just modified that to fit, i didn't know before i ordered everything. If you don't have the money for some exotic system i highly recomend this set-up. I havn't heard many 3rd gen. F-cars sound as good as this does, and still have the factory manifolds on.
Here are pics ...

Sorry, can someone resize these pics?
Nevermind, i got it.

I am interested in making my exhaust sound better than stock. How much $ are we talking for the setup you have? Also do you have any sound clips of it?

ChevyMetal......

Here is a link to the SLP system that will work...http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...42&BIG=31042-1

$ 419 For this kit. Sure went up lately. I just bought the loud mouth muffler from SLP and had my mechanic fabricate the rest. But like i said he did tell me i could have bought the full kit and he could have slightly fabricated it to fit the 3rd gen.I am still running a cat conv. which really gives the 305 a great muscular sound with this setup. Just find an exhaust shop that will take this on, any good one will do it with little trouble

Ok, try this..... Buy the SLP loud mouth muffler alone, around $75.00.
Then cut off your existing muffler in the rear. Make two cuts in the intermediate pipe so the SLP muffler will fit in there, then you can figure out the tail pipes or have a shop do that part. That should keep it to a minimum and it your Maro will have a great sound with minimal cost. Good luck and let me know how it goes Bro!

Should have had them split the I pipe after the axle, so instead of tha conglomeration of y's, u's, and funky welds it would look more like the SLP version. Would have been easier than all those parts under there. Good idea, don't take what I said the wrong way.

I'm wondering that myself. Looks like one pipe actually goes in the opposite direction before making a "u" and going back towards the exit. That can't be good for flow, even with straight piping...

I know the pipes at the rear look like a cluster, the 'Y' pipe you are thinking of that splits at the rear to give you two exit pipes isn't something shops have on the shelves, maybe SLP will sell me one, I was in a hurry at that time but i can have it changed easily.
