Connecting Coated Y pipe to Cat
Should a clamp be used @ this juncture?
or...
If it is welded, the ceramic coating will need to be removed & possibly (in the future) weaken the y pipe..??

Hey, the part that's clamped looks exactly like the part of the cat that was clamped to the y-pipe before it was coated.

???
Ok, I guess I'll use a clamp for the cat / y pipe & have the rest welded (since it's not steel)...
Thanks for your pic & suggetions.

Nothing wrong with clamps... they work just fine if you know what you are doing.
If you use clamps though, I'd do a small spot weld on either side of the pipe, just incase.

The point was to avoid the welding....
Jet Hot covers their product for life... unless I weld it & the metal breaks where the coating was removed for the weld...
I'll use 1 clamp and have the rest welded... I can check, tighten & replace the clamp if need be.

Band clamp maybe? I doubt that would hurt the coating, and it should seal it up pretty nice.
