Ok, i need a muffler for my car, im buying a new cat, its currently running open y pipe because the car shot out a dead rat so i sawed everything off to remove anyother "obstructions"

so now i need to pass emissions and inspection in CA so im looking for a super cheap exhaust... i am strapped for cash so yeah... heres what i saw

SUM-688351

and

WLK-17450

on www.summitracing.com

what do you guys think? would 2.5 be too small for my 305? no mods, just trying to get it running good and pass smog/inspection...

I have two of those $15 summit mufflers (true duals) and the car sounds badass. Real badass like the older cars without being too loud. Obviously its not going to last forever and duals sound different, but I reccomend it if you're on a budget. $60 cat, $30 I pipe (I got one from C.A.P.), $15 muffler, plus some clamps. I think 2.5" is stock for 305 so you should be alright. Personally I'd get a 3" mandrel bent system for the slight bit of extra money- but if you can't swing it then no worries.

The 305 TPI cars had 3" mid pipes. But a 305 car will run fine on 2.5" as long as its still stock and you're not trying to win races with it.

Am I missing something? Those come up as C/K pickup systems.

It isn't legal for JYs to sell used catalytic converters. You may be able to get one off of a private party, though. Since you're in California, the most **** emissions state in the union, you'd better get a system specifically made for your engine & model year.

Factory I-pipes were either 2-1/4" or 2-3/4" OD. Aftermarket replacements tend to be 2-1/2" or 3".
