current popular header gaskets of choice ???

Gotta replace the header gasskets. Blew out the gasket on rear passenger (#8)-- not sure if the bolt backed out and it blew out the gasket, or if the other way around. Have Hooker Super Comp 2055's. Street-- some strip use.

What is the current popular header gaskets of choice ???

I did a search and read a bunch of posts about it, but still not sure if Iwas able to come to a decision about which is the better/best gasket to use.

I do not mind paying a little extra for a quality product, but I am not into using something just because it's new/different. I will, if it does what it is supposed to do and worth the extra money.

Since both headers need repainted, I was going to pull both -- repaint and get some new regular ARP header bolts for reinstall.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Craig

I like SCE copper gaskets. Make sure you trim them to match the ports. A thin layer of high temp RTV on both side. They never blow out, last pair you'll ever buy.

Percy's dead soft aluminum gaskets are also a good choice. They are great for headers that may have a slightly warped flange.

They're nice, but they will blow out b/c of the layers. They will make up for a warped flange.
