Borla Pro XS

I am probably going to pick up a Borla Pro XS crossflow muffler p/n 40474. I found it for a reasonable price slightly used.

I am taking a shot in the dark here, but I need a new muffler.

What is the general consensus on the borla stuff? Does anybody have this muffler or an equivilent, if so what do you like/dislike?

Thanks in advance.

I have that on my 89 IROC-Z, previous owner put it on. I dont really have any opinions on the power aspect because I have nothing to compare against (didnt feel the car before the mod was done). But as for the sound, I like it. Its alot quieter than Flowmasters 40/80 at idle, slow speed. At WOT its not as loud as Flowmasters 40/80 but still pretty loud. I have a video of me doing dumb stuff where you can listen to it, PM me for the link if you want it.

Check my videos in that thread.......thats what I got too. I actually bought it the day after I downloaded the movie CrazyHawaiian is talkin about.

As for the performance part of it I went from a Flowmaster 80 series to the Borla. It def flows a lot(I mean alot) better than the Flowmaster and the throttle responce that I notice was amazing. As for the sounds though I def miss the Flowmaster but will not give up what I got in the borla so I think im gonna go with a Hooker Cat system or a SLP Loudmouth II Cat system.

Sounds nice at idle and is real nice when you get on it. It took about 60-70 miles of driving before the sound really came out of it though it got alot deeper than it was when I first got it. It is also quiet inside the car witch is what I really hate and makes me think thats how it sounds outside the car.

Thanks. Personally, the quieter, the better. I listened to one of the links, but I will have to wait to watch any video until I get somewhere with cable/DSL. I have dial-up internet that connects at a whopping 26.4 kbps.
