I ran the generic pacesetter equivilant on my old CRX beater that, hold your suprise, I made new exhaust for. I ran a 2" in/out turbo muffler on it & tucked outlet in OEM position. While descent sounding it still had a pinch of the upper rasp (pipe was a little oversized for the hampsters). I put a flowtech dual resonator tip (as I said.. generic pacesetter) on it and it took the upper frequency rasp away and actually made it quite pleasent sounding for a 4 cyl.
In the low performance spectrum.. probably helpful. The reduction in outlet size (dual tips) doesn't seem worth it if you're trying to scrounge ponies.
Restriction will always make anything quieter.
Not really helpful information at all I know but, that's all I have about resonator tips from a personal perspective.
