modifying hedman x-tensions?

Engine: GMPP 350HO, LS1
Transmission: Built 700r4/EDGE 3200, T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Eaton 7.625, 3.42 Zexel Torsen
modifying hedman x-tensions?
Has anyone had any luck shortening the diagonal portion of the x-tensions to improve ground clearance?
My x-tensions are always getting thrashed on the road, and if I could hack out an inch or more of the middle part to get more clearance, I think I'd be better off.
Red circle is the area I'm talking about, I was thinking cut at the green lines shown in my pic.
I see the xtensions are widely used, we only need about an inch or less of a bend to clear the crossmember correct?
Hedman make 3"in/3"out y collectors yet?
