Headers and Angle Plug Heads

Has anyone had any luck with headers and angle plug heads? I have slp 1 5/8 headers and trick flow angle plug heads and the #8 spark plug boot touches the #6 down tube. I tried wrapping the down tube and using a stainless steal sheild boot, but it still melts. Any suggestions? I'm using 90 degree boots and they work the best.

Thanks,
Jim

I have no problems with my 1 3/4 SLP's. If you haven't already, you might want to maybe check into getting some shorty plugs. One thing also to remember, there is a difference "Angle plug" heads and "L98 Angle" heads. That could be the reason why I'm not burning my wires and you are.

Hope that helps

I use the TF heads and slp 1 3/4. They are VERY close on number 8 plug but I have about 1/16 clearance lol. I am running autolites

BTW I am running spiral pro's but on number 8 I have to use a distributor boot on my plug to clear ,as the larger Spiral Pro Boots rest on the tube. Its something to think about.

Mkos,

I know are set-ups are very simular. Are you running the angle plug heads? I have Accel short plugs in there now and the corner of now three sets of 90 degree boots melts eventaully causeing a spark to show.

Yes. I have the TF angeled heads. I am running autolites and when I used the spiral pro boot, it burned and I saw a spark in the night lol. I switched to a thin boot that is suppose to be used for the distributor part and now i have about a 1/16 clearance. If need be I have even seen people use a pipe and put a small dent into the primary. Minimal one but just enough that it doesnt touch or hinder performance.

Cut and weld the offending tube as done in the above posting!
