2nd gen headers on 3rd gen
I have found a used set of headers for a good price. The guy said that they came off of a camaro, but thought that it was a 78. He don't know much about f-bodies because he is a ford man. He said he remembered his son having a 84 and thought they were made basicly the same around the inner fenders as the 78 he once own. I have a 86 and was just curious if that they are from a 78 will they fit. He said his son sold the 84 before they had a chance to try to install them. I will be using a 77 350 4 bolt block with vortec heads. Thanks for any info.

Thanks, I didn't think that they would either, but I bought them any way. For $25 I couldn't pass them up. Maybe I could use them on a later project.
I see that you built a 355 for your car. That is what I will be putting into mine. I was wondering what type of cam you used. I got the comp extreme energy cam 480/480. I am going to be using vortec heads as well. I was wondering if your or anyone else has used this cam and how does it perform and sound.
Thanks.

if your talking about them not bolting up. there is some header bolt adapter plates out there on the market. i used one to bolt 3rd gen manifolds to a older style head once

Well if your engine was out it would bolt up, Because all small blocks are the same but it wont clear. youll struggle trying to bolt it to the head. its just the clearance on thirdgens. you could practicly use any header on any other chevy but not Fbodys.
But if you like the open header sound. cut off the Connectors and have them point towards the groundbut if your county is a bit strict then i dont know. but 135 isnt bad for hedman hedders.
and THERE IS ALWAYS EBAY
and about the cam its stock just rebuilt. but from being stock it sounds great.
but i hear the vortecs are great heads. but iv got a set of 64cc heads of an old 350CI or maybe finding a set of 202 heads from a 327CI
WELL GOOD LUCK WITH THE HEADER SEARCH
