retightening stage 8's w. earl's
I just got my Hooker 2210's in and am going to be installing them this week. I also got stage 8 locking bolts and Earl's "dead soft" gaskets. I was wondering if I am going to need to retighten my bolts over the next few hundred miles or is my combo a "fire and forget" set-up?
Thanks, Robert

You should not have to retighten them if you use the locks (that is kinda the point of locking header bolts
). For any bolt that you do not use the lock (some header primaries limit space for the lock tabs) you will need to re-tighten periodically. If you have not made a purchase yet I would look into the Breslin header bolts. They have a locking design that will work on every bolt regardless of primary interference.

Thanks! I kinda thought that I would not need to retighten, but i wanted to be sure! I have already got everything (4" mufflex still in transit!) so i will just grind the tabs that are problematic.

i just bought regular header bolts, put them in a vise, and drilled a small hole through each one and ran safety wire through them to keep them tight. Works well so far, and aviation has been using this method to keep two adjoining bolts tight for years.

i went with stage 8 locking bolts or whatever they are called. you get them from summit or jegs for about 50 bucks a set. never have come loose and i filed a couple of the locks to make them fit on the primaries but other than that no problems.
