what headers should I use?

I have an 86Z with an LT1 running flowtech headers with y-pipe running to a 3" random technologies cat and flowmaster cat back. I hate the flowtech headers and I don't know why I wasted the money on them. So now I am doing the job twice. Anyway, I am thinking of hedman or hooker but there are several different companies that I have heard good things about.

What are some suggestions. I would like to keep the headers and y-pipe under $500.00 (coated).

The hooker 2055's or SLP's are your best bet. However, SLP's cannot be bought without SLP's crap coating and they are super expensive. The Hookers come with the AIR tubes so if you want the clean look that your blowtechs had you will need to cut off the tubes, weld them, and then have them coated. I would call jet hot and see if they offer that service. They sell all makes of headers coated direct from them so that you can skip the middle man.

You are not the only one who made the mistake of getting blowtechs

That is correct. But you can buy them coated direct from Jet Hot. However, you still want them without AIR. IIRC you can call them and ask them to cut the AIR tubes off and then coat them. I believe that they will do this.

On a typical weekend I am in three of the four places. Hopefully that will end soon.

Lima = Employment
Cincy = The old lady
Newark = My shop
Dayton = In between where fellow hot rodders reside.
