very irritating noise

Dude I have some irritating ***noise coming from the cat. Its like a serious serious rattleing coming from the cat when the car warms up in the morning and when I stop the car. You cant here it when the car accelerates but it is embarasing when I stop. However, The check engine light is not on. I was wondering did something come lose in there and if so, do I need to just go ahead and buy a new cat? What is this noise Im hearing guys?

its the catalysts in the cat that have been busted loose, my cat does the same thing at idle (when i can get the thing to go back to idleing right ) to me it sounds like a hot cam in the car.. until you realize its the cat

well if its the stock cat which it most likely is then the inner lining has probably begun to deteriorate

i would recommend replacing the cat or cats (if dual cats) immediately to avoid further damage such as the debris from the old cat reaching the muffler and causing even more "fun" noises

that happened to me and well, it sucks..........

Both of you are probaly wrong. Check your AIR tube line to see if its bouncing off the exhaust pipe near the cat. Mines been doing it for a year now because I am just to lazy to remove the AIR tube from behind the engine.

Mine also only dose it while ideling in certian temps. and at certain RPMs.

They may not be wrong at all. Go down and hit your cat with a hammer or similar hard object. If it's deteriorated inside, you'll hear the pieces jumbling about. This typically happens with age.

It could also be a broken hanger or the AIR tube as mentioned. A quick inspection should tell you which.

Exactly where is the Air Tube located? What Is it near so that I may identify it?

its on the other side of the cat heading up to the engine bay, its the only other pipe right near the exaust (its a thin pipe)

correct. It's attached to the cat and heads up into the engine bay connecting to the rest of the smog system.
