have you ever seen a 4th gen engine bay? 4th gen headers wouldn't get close to fitting in your bay.

To expand a little.

4th gen headers would (assuming they are LT1) literally bolt to your engine but they would not clear your firewall.

I would look at 1 3/4" 3rd gen long tubes.

get some custom 1-7/8 headers, a buddy of mine has some on his 383 stroker(gen 1 SBC). Very cool design, pretty expensive.

how much better off would i be with 1 3/4 Hooker Super Comps as apposed to SLP 1 3/4 shortys? would i have to run 3' dual all the way back if i went with Super Comps long tubes since the collector is 3'? sorry for all the questions- i have been walking around in circles about this for weeks.

Shorties aren't crap compared to LTs. I vote 100% for the LTs. As to their fitment, they should work.

on a 383 LT1 a single 3" is mandatory at the least. Dual 3" would work fine as well.
