Edelbrock Cat-back

Has anyone installed an Edelbrock 3" cat-back exhaust system and what is the sound level. Did it bolt right on. My 84 Z28 has a four bolt cat flange. Thanks.

I had it installed by a Muff shop...the sound level in the car is fairly quiet....
in fact it is probablly the most quiet of the bunch...there is a slight "drone" but it is slight ... I am in my 30's and i did not want a cop magnet but you can tell that it's not stock either....over all it just sounds good..hope that helps.... GTA

I love how me Edelbrock sounds not to loud but not stock either. Wy only complaint was the fit of it. The pipethat goes from the cat to the pipe that goes over the axle did not fit together very well, i had to do a lot of work on it to get it to fit together. After i got it all installed i brought it to a muffler shop to have it welded, this i recommend because the clamps that come with it do not seem to want to tighten it up enough.

90ta, thanks for the info. I will be installing the system myself and will now pre-fit it before I bolt it on. Thanks again.

Prefitting is a good call, that what i did and how i found out that the fit was not the greatest. I highly recomend the welding, it was only like $30 bucks at a local shop.

Mine fit perfect. Its th eonly mod I havent changed since I bought my car 6 years ago. No rust on it and it still looks great. I have about 35K miles on it.

Mine fit great until I added sub-frame connectors, but that didn't take much-10 minutes at teh muffler shop.

Sounds great, and even better with my Hooker 2055's!

I put that system on my 86 IROC 4 years ago and it's great. Bolted it in out in the front yard with no problems. Tucks up nice and high and you almost can't see the muffler. My next door neighbor has been building hot rods and race cars for years and he's always telling me how much he likes the sound of that IROC when I pull out on the road and push the pedal down. If you have the 4 bolt flange catalytic converter it sounds like you have the 305 HO engine (4 brl. quadrajet carb). The TPI cars had a different convertor flange (2 bolts diagonally across from each other) so be sure you specify the need for the 4 bolt flange connection or you'll have trouble getting it hooked up.

Edelbrock changed their mufflers. They now come with the SDT muffler and not the old RPM series muffler.

Edelbrock cat back

I installed mine on the Iroc myself. Fit was good. I also have Hooker shorty headers with a hooker Y-pipe and I deleted the cat converter as well.
Sound is mild with a very slight drone on the highway, nothing severe in my opinion.
The biggest reason I went with this cat back is because it is the only one I found that had factory style exhaust tips so I could keep the stock look of the car. They came out the back perfect and tuck up nicely, barely visable. I highly recomend it. Goodluck,,,Larry.

Their mufflers are totally different now and IMO would sound way different aswell.
