quitest exhuast????
ok so here is my question. what is the quietest muffler out there? i am swapping in an ls1 with a big cam. and i want the thing to be quiet. one because no girl really wants to be in a car that is loud as hell. and second loud is cool but to a point. here is what i am thinking of doing. running true duals for my ls1 and having them dump right before the axle. now i want to have 2 electric cutouts(this is where i will get my loud/obnoxious from) somewhere before the mufflers. so anyone know of any good and quiet mufflers?

For a quiet exhaust you don't want to do turn downs before the axle.Run the full exhaust to the stock locations under the rear bumper. You can still use the cutouts for the track before the mufflers and after the cat.The quietest performance muffler I know are Dynomax SuperTurbos,I believe the stainless Ultraflow is even quieter, and the bonus is the actually are tested to outflow Flowmaster "40" series below 3500RPM.

The most quiet V8 car I have ever heard is a 2004 GTO with the LS1. Since you already have an LS1 it would work out for you. No Im jk, but listen to those guys they know alot more about quiet good flowing exhausts than I do

Dynomax Super Turbo Hemi's are one of the quietest (yet good flowing) mufflers I've ever heard. They are big though...

Have the dynomax super turbos, sounds nice. Is loudish when you get down on it. THe ultra flos are louder, mostly due to the fact they are straight though vs the turbo setup. A turbo muffler will be quiter as it is equal to a muffler much longer then it is (The original idea behind it).

Stock mufflers are very quiet no matter what engine is upstream.
Borla is consider quiet from all platforms but if you're going true duals then you might look at going with a small 2.25" pipe/muffler. Run 2.5" from the engine neck down to a 2.25 or even 2 for the muffler system. Your engine won't hate you running through the smaller exhaust unless you're heavy on the gas. When that happens you should have the exhaust cut-outs open

well i guess i'm bringing this one back from the dead but thats ok.
the stock SLP muffler that came on 4thgen LS1's with the performance exhaust system (the "dual dual" system) while heavy is VERY quiet yet freeflowing. most LS1 guys find little to no gain in power when switching from the dual-dual muffler, most often they switch to get louder.
I switched from a flowmaster 80 series over to the SLP and the gain in smoothness and upper rpm pull was noticable.
the only thing i can compare it to is the stock 2004 GTO I've test driven - the GTO is LOUDER on the outside, and about the same volume on the inside.
highly recommended if you want quiet.
