Hooker Headers for my "S" code 1983 crossfire
I have been trying to get the correct information for Hooker headers and Y-pipe (ceramic coated) for my 1983 trans am pace car with engine code "S" crossfire. But even holley says they do not have it for the "S" code. Can anyone help me find the correct ones? I also want them to pass emmissions.

Hooker doesn't make anything that will bolt into your exhaust system. That's their defination of "correct".
You can use the 2055's if you're willing to modify the connection to the cat. Best bet, though, is to replace the entire exhaust system with parts made for the same application as the 2055's, '86-'90 TPI single-cat. That will pass emissions anywhere with the possible exception of an **** California inspection station.
If you want them coated, I'd recommend ordering them directly from Jet Hot, and asking them to cut off and re-weld the driver's side A.I.R. tubes so the fitting faces forward like the factory system does.

Thank you for your help...So I should get the 2055's (86-90) even thou my motor is a "S" code 1983, and then get the Hooker Cat-back system for the same year (86-90). That way the headers and Y-pipe will bolt right up to the new CAt Back. Another question would be the Catalytic Converter... I would need a 3" inlet and outlet for the new Cat-back and Y-pipe? Does anyone have a suggestion for the brand I should buy?

I see a lot of mentioning the A.I.R. tubes. Exactly what are these (I'm guessing a metal connector of some sort, but I am probably wrong), and what is the function of them?

It is part of the exhaust system to help keep NOx (oxides of Nitrogen) emissions down. It does it by supplying air to the exhaust stream in various locations depending on certain vehicle conditions.
If you have ever looked under your hood and noticed the large, black rubber hoses that go across the engine, or the skinny stainless steel piping coming from the exhaust manifolds, those are all part of the A.I.R. injection system.

If I were you I would buy them first and clean up the welding flash in the tubes first.I had to do that when I first bought my headers.The flash was so bad in one tube it took me a half an hour to smooth it out.so clean them up and send them out.the total it cost me with buying the headers and getting them coated was 661.38.To me it was worth it for the better flow.

So you're saying that the A.I.R. tubes from Hooker are facing the wrong way? Or are you saying just have them removed for ceramic coating purposes?

Carburated and crossfire (and I believe TBI - not sure about them) have the check valves facing the front of the car, while TPI driver's side valve faces the rear. If you can have them cut off of the driver's side and rewelded back on before coating, that would save a bunch of hassle.
Just another questions here, and I appreciate all the help by the way, instead of removing and rotating the AIR tube 180 degrees can I just leave them were they are and extend the AIR piping/tubing to go to the back on the header where the inlet is located?

You can, but at least in my carb'd case, the outlets on the diverter valve made that difficult. You may find it easier, I don't know.
